About Eaton Family Law Group
The Challenge
They wanted to rank page one for divorce variations in Houston and the surrounding areas, and turn that visibility into more consultations and case work. A firm with a former district judge on staff and four offices across the metro should have been easy to find. It wasn’t. The site leaned on a few broad citywide terms and had little dedicated content for the specific towns and case types people actually search. Their core term, “Houston Family Lawyer,” sat back on the fifth page of results, and the site held only about 110 page-one keywords across its whole footprint. Prospective clients searching in Katy or Tomball, or searching for a specific issue like child support, were finding competitors instead.
The Solution
The first step was diagnosing why broad terms weren’t working. A citywide phrase like ‘Houston Family Lawyer’ is one of the hardest and most crowded searches in the market, and the site had no supporting pages built to earn it. People don’t only search that way. They search for their town and their exact case, so that’s where the opportunity was.
The firm’s own footprint pointed the way. Four physical offices meant a real service area the website wasn’t using, and a practice that runs deeper than divorce, covering child support, custody modification, military divorce, and grandparents’ rights, meant there were specific case-type searches to win rather than one broad term. So the family law SEO work was built around dedicated location and practice-area pages. We created and strengthened pages for Houston, Katy, and Tomball, and mapped real case types like child support and child custody to the pages meant to rank for them. On-page SEO rewrote the copy and metadata on those pages around the actual search variations families use, so each page answered a specific question clearly for both readers and search engines. Off-page work built the site’s authority so those pages could compete, and the development work handled the technical foundation underneath. Local SEO tied the whole effort to the map and the neighborhoods the firm serves.

The Outcome
The firm’s page-one presence more than doubled, from about 110 keywords to 276, and its top-three positions nearly tripled. The clearest single win: the Tomball child support page went from unranked to the number one result for ‘child support lawyer Tomball,’ and the core Houston term climbed roughly 30 spots off the back pages toward page one.
The traffic followed, and it landed where the strategy aimed it. Organic clicks rose about 30%, and the Houston page in particular grew its organic sessions, which is the signal that matters: the pages built to rank are the ones bringing in visitors who turn into consultations. The firm also earned ground in AI-generated answers, showing up in more Google AI Overviews and drawing its first referrals from assistants like ChatGPT, a small volume today but a clear direction as more people ask AI where to go before they open a map.
